The Next Big Thing

Right now I’m out here all by myself, doing The Next Big Thing blog today because I love Shannon Delany (www.shannondelany.com) the author of the Thirteen to Life series.

Because it’s the holiday season and everyone is up to their eyeballs in wrapping paper and cookies, I couldn’t find anyone to help me. However, I despair not. I soldier on.

And I present…ta-da…The Next Big Thing:

What is the working title of your next book?
The Guardian Prophecy
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I’d been thinking about a werewolf book for years and I wanted to link it to wolf lore and knowledge about “real” wolves.
What genre does your book fall under?
Paranormal romance – mild sexuality
What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?
Ewain McGregor or Michael Easton for the hero and me for the heroine …or Anne Hathaway . BTW: Michael Easton is one sexy dude who plays on General Hospital.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Serial murders, possibly by a rogue wolf, places the owner of a wolf preserve in the middle of a growing cry for her to get rid of her packs until she finds an unlikely alley in a professor of Native American folklore who has secrets that he can reveal only to her.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
This will be self-published.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?
The first draft went very quickly, during NaNo one year. But I’d written something similar earlier so it had been fermenting in my brain. I changed a lot in the new manuscript.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Good question. I would say Thirteen to Life…but it’s not YA. I have to think more about that. Can I get back to you in a few weeks?
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Wolves. I’ve always loved them and we have to protect them. I’ve always felt they were misrepresented and the werewolf legend became part of that misrepresentation. I use the original legends of the wolf from Ireland, when it was believed they were guardians.
What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?
Part of the proceeds from this book will go to wolf protection and two preserves: Wolf Sanctuary of PA and the Lakota Wolf Preserve. I encourage anyone in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey to visit these wonderful places and learn the truth about these animals.
