Freaky Friday – Why Are You So Weird?

My Facebook Author page (www.Facebook.com/MitziFlyteAuthor) has links to articles about writing and self-publishing but it also has links to articles about…well…odd things, things people may call “paranormal”.

I post these articles because my fiction usually has a bit of the “weird” in it. It started when I was a kid and had night terrors and nightmares. I even had an imaginary friend named Timmy. Some people think that children’s imaginary friends are actually spirits or maybe guardian angels. Some people, well, most people think they’re just imaginary. But to me, all those years ago, Timmy was real. Sometimes I would have my mother set an extra place at the table for him and keep people out of “Timmy’s seat.”

Many years later most of my stories are in the paranormal genre—a bit fantasy, a bit horror, a bit supernatural. I enjoy making my own world, its history, its laws, its people. Most of the time that fantastical world bleeds into the real world—that causes conflict.

Growing up I loved reading horror stories—I devoured (good verb for this thought) everything by Poe before I got to high school. I’ve reread many of his short stories several times since then. It’s natural that my own writing would have been influenced by these works.

I read articles about unusual events, looking for inspiration.

Here’s one that blended science with the possibility of alien (nonhuman) life:

I’ve already started to write a short story based on the information in this article.

So, if you like the unusual or the weird or are look for some inspiration, check out my Facebook Author page and you will find it.

Oh, yeah, is Timmy still around? I don’t know but….Don’t sit in that chair!

  1. I’m amazed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and amusing, and
without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something that too few folks are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy that I found this in my search
    for something relating to this.
